First Fridays JCMO
Jefferson City is pleased to welcome First Fridays into our growing art community!
Every first Friday of the month between May and October, we hope you will get out and visit those businesses that support the local artists and organizations responsible for bringing more color, vibrance, and fun to our community.
We hope to bring attention to those businesses as well as grow the support for our local artist community through special offers, live performances, activities, demonstrations and original pieces on sale during the event.
First Friday is a popular event in many art communities around the world. It typically takes place on the first Friday of each month and involves a collective celebration of art, culture, and creativity. The concept originated in the 1980s in Kansas City, Missouri, and has since spread to numerous cities and towns globally.
During First Friday events, art galleries, studios, and other creative spaces open their doors to the public for extended hours, often in the evening. These venues showcase new exhibitions, feature local artists' works, and offer an opportunity for the community to engage with the art firsthand. The event may also include live music performances, street performers, food vendors, and interactive activities.
First Friday gatherings are meant to promote community engagement, encourage exploration of local art scenes, and support artists and businesses within the creative industry. It allows artists to exhibit their work, network with peers and potential buyers, and gain exposure to a broader audience. Visitors, on the other hand, get to experience a vibrant arts and cultural atmosphere, discover new artists, and purchase artwork directly from the creators.
Participating in First Friday events can have numerous benefits for artists, galleries, and businesses. It generates foot traffic, boosts sales, and provides a platform for artistic expression and collaboration. It also nurtures a sense of community and helps establish the area as an artistic hub, attracting both locals and tourists interested in exploring the local art scene.
First Friday events have become an integral part of many cities' cultural calendars, offering a regular opportunity for artists and art enthusiasts to connect, celebrate creativity, and appreciate the artistic talent within their communities.
