Art in a Suitcase

Volunteers bring the fascinating lives and works of six renowned arts - Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Thomas Hart Benton, Vincent Van Gogh, Leonardo da Vinci and contemporary Faith Ringgold into every fourth grade classroom in Jefferson City.  These one-hour programs, each packed in an easy to carry suitcase /portfolio, are scheduled by AIS coordinator who matches volunteers' calendars with those of fourth grade art classes.  After a provided, scripted program on an artist, the children unleash their own talent on a theme suggested by the volunteer.  Results:  Amazing!  Students really absorb what they learn from "Artists" in a Suitcase.
