Mary Ann Hall

Mary Ann Hall

Mary Ann has been an artist in some capacity as far back as she can remember redesigning clothes for her paper dolls. Teen years involved school activities decorating for parties, dances, parade floats and theater productions.  She was fortunate to study with Sidney Larson at Columbia College who encouraged her to expand areas of interest and medium. After graduating from MU with a BFA, she worked for Hallmark Cards as a lithograph artist. Skills learned with pen, brush and ink led to a varied career in graphic arts and the field of print production.

For many years Mary Ann was a graphic artist for the state until computers replaced the need for original art. She then managed her own graphic arts business and started a family owned business, Marble Graphics which still uses her artwork.

Mary Ann is mainly known for her ink drawings of historic and architecturally significant buildings. Over the years she has drawn hundreds of buildings from our most magnificent Capitol, other state offices, businesses, private residences to small homesteads. Recently she completed a poster with 14 doors from around Jefferson City representing a variety of styles and time periods.

Three years ago she started The Art Bazaar, a co-op of area artists to exhibit and sell their art work in downtown Jefferson City. Mary Ann is on the Cultural Arts Commission, a member of Capital Arts and supports related art activities in the community. Her private gallery, Stonehawk Studio, in a 100 year old carriage house behind her home is where she “plays at art” in a variety of other venues. Visitors are welcome.
