Faye Zumwalt
Faye Zumwalt
Faye Zumwalt has been painting since the early 1980s, but had long periods where her career, project managing software development for the State of Missouri, took center stage. She retired from the State of Missouri in February 2010 and quickly resumed her creative pursuits, both as an artist and as a writer.
Sunshine Creations, Faye’s business in the 1980s, found her specializing in country landscapes decorating saw blades, crockery and other items in oils. Her art work was sold through several Missouri shops and at craft and art shows. She taught beginning oil painting with the methods approach in Jefferson City and Herman, Missouri and a children’s painting class in Jefferson City.
She grew bored with the limits of her early painting and branched out with original work including portraits and florals and work in other media. She currently paints with an informal group of artists on Monday afternoons, where all the artists provide critiques and motivate each other as each works on their individual projects. She is currently preparing a drawing class for that group and Learning in Retirement. She is currently the owner/manager of Zumwalt Enterprises, LLC.
Faye was a member of Jefferson City Art Club from 1985 through 1997 and rejoined in 2005. She enjoys helping with the annual Adult Artists Exhibit and various other Art Club events.
Faye has been married to her supportive husband Bill Zumwalt since 1972, and they raised two sons, Robert and Jason. Robert is married to Julie and they live in O’Fallon, Missouri. Robert has given Faye and Bill four wonderful grandchildren. Jason lives in Reno, Nevada with his long-time significant-other, Kimberly Lenzi.
Besides art and writing, Faye loves spending time with her grandchildren and traveling. She also enjoys swimming, genealogy, scrapbooking, gardening and reading. She is one of the founders and currently Board Chair for Dreams to Reality, a ten-year-old non-profit dedicated to helping low-income women secure jobs by providing free interview and work clothing, and helping them find their confidence.
