Alicia Pigg

Alicia Pigg

Alicia Pigg has a background and training in fine arts and museum studies. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. At Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, she earned both a Master of Fine Arts degree in textiles and a Museum Studies Graduate Certificate. Miss Pigg’s artwork has been displayed in numerous exhibitions across the country, and she has been recognized for her textiles, photography, and local history research. Her artwork focuses on the passage of time and notions of memory that are prevalent in layers of fabric, imagery, and stitching. Much of her work incorporates the concept of changing ways of life that are prevalent in landscape, appearing as marks and remnants on the land. The cycles of time, change, and memory seen in her work allow her to explore conversations between the past and present. Miss Pigg has taught university level courses in beginning and intermediate textiles as well as courses in design. She enjoys working with art objects and historical artifacts, and she sees a great importance in preserving and learning from these objects.
