Walt Timm:

A retiree in love with my wife, my physical surroundings, all of nature, and of course, my camera. It began as therapy, with a haunting interest in taking pictures of crosses; regular crosses like what are seen on churches. It wasn’t long before “regular” crosses were too easy to spot and the desire waned…until one day I saw pieces of conduit on the outside of a building, and where two pieces overlapped, a cross was formed.  Then the fun began, looking for crosses in the least of obvious places…and I soon discovered we are surrounded by crosses, everywhere, every day…along with all sorts of other cool stuff.

When I try to point out some less obvious images to people, most aren’t able to see, or recognize them.  But when they do a response something like, “oh, NOW I see it…how’d you see that?”  It dawned on me that I was turning on light bulbs for people so they could see.  See things they couldn’t see, had never seen before, wouldn’t take time to see, or if it was pointed out, they still wouldn’t be able to see it.

My camera goes where I go…even to church, or the gas station!  There is just too much of the world around us that goes totally un-noticed.  And it’s all of that, which I want to share.  Sure, many pictures are taken of the “obvious and mundane” but turn me loose in a ditch along the road, a field of weeds, a restaurant, junkyard, or whatever and I’ll find something which most people would never see but when it’s shared with them, they’d say something like, “oh, NOW I see…how’d you see that…that’s really neat.”
